BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

K.V.R. Government College is the first women’s college in Kurnool district which introduced Computer Science and Applications at UG level. The Department of Computer Science & Applications was introduced in the year 1998. The Department imparts excellent technical education for the women students in global changing and challenging technological world. It is a restructured course in combination with Physics, Mathematics, History, Advanced English and Commerce. The Department introduced CPCs course in 2016-17 for the first time in Kurnool with combination of Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science. A new course MCDs was introduced in 2018 with combination of Mathematics, Computer Science and Data Science. Another new course B.Com Digital Marketing was introduced in 2020 with Commerce combination. The Department follows Semester system with Choice Based Credit System from the Academic Year 2015-16. The Department offers M.Sc Computer Science at PG level.

· Dr. R. Suneetha served the Dept. of Computer Science and Applications from the inception, presently working as Principal, GDC, Nandikotkur. 

· Smt. Talat Parveen served the Department of Computer Science and Applications for 2013 to 2018.

              The Certificate Course “Web Development” is introduced for the academic year 2020-21 for 45 days with 97 students.

1. Three well equipped Computer laboratories with Internet facility and LCD projector.
   

2. Organizing Seminars, Guest and Extension lectures from local University, Affiliated Colleges and other Resource Persons.
   

3. Organizing student Seminars, Elocutions, Group Discussions and Quiz programs to improve Communication and Technical Skills, and also encouraging students to  participate in Poster Presentations, PPTs, Seminars, Paper Presentations, Workshops and Projects.
   

4. Using effective ICT teaching methods like Animated Pictures, Power Point Presentations and Visual Charts for easy understanding of students.
   

5. Department imparts Computer Skills to Non-Computer students and Staff.
   

6. Learning through MOOC’s is encouraged for students.
   

7. The Department has MOU with Department of Computer Science of Osmania College and Govt. College for Men, Kurnool.
   

8. Students are motivated to build personality development through NCC and NSS.
   

9. Organizing outreach programs for School Children, Anganvadi teachers to promote Computer Literacy by our students.
