K.V.R.Govt.College for Women Is the first Women’s college in Govt.sector which introduced psychology as one of the subjects of study for B.A.students. 

The Department of Psychology was started during the year 1958 which was also the year of starting the college. The department of psychology is one of the oldest departments of this college.

Smt.Lakshmi Kanthamm was the  first lecturer in the department.
